This guide will help you set up Imperial Guard for your chat from scratch. We'll walk through all the basic steps: from adding the bot to configuring the warning system.
Adding the Bot to Your Chat
Step 1: Open the Bot Profile
Navigate to the bot's profile: @imguardbot
Step 2: Add the Bot to a Group

Important: Without these permissions, the bot cannot perform moderation
Step 5: Confirm Addition
Confirm adding the bot as an administrator, if required
✅ Done! The bot has been added to your chat!
First Launch and Setup
Opening Settings
- Send the
/startcommand to the bot's private messages @imguardbot - In your chat, send the
/settingscommand - The bot will send you settings in private messages
- Open them — you'll enter the main settings menu
Choose Language (if needed)
If the main language of your chat is not Russian:
- Open the "Language" section
- Select the needed language from the list
- The bot's interface will switch to the selected language
Configuring the Warning System
The warning system (warns) is the foundation of moderation. Let's configure it properly.
Open Warning Settings
- Return to the main settings menu
- Select the "Warning Settings" section
Configure Parameters
You need to configure the following parameters:
Warning Duration
- The time during which a warning will be counted
- For example: 7d (7 days) or 14d (14 days)
- Default: 14 days
Limit Before Punishment
- The number of warnings after which punishment will be applied
- For example: 3 (three warnings)
- Default: 3
Punishment - What happens when the limit is reached - Options: ban, mute, ignore - Recommended: ban
Punishment Duration
- How long the punishment is issued for
- For example: 1d (1 day), 7d (7 days), or "Forever"
- Recommended: 7d or forever
Cooldown - Time in seconds between issuing warnings to one user - Protects against warning spam - Recommended: 60 seconds
Reference: To specify time, use the interval format:
1m= 1 minute,1h= 1 hour,1d= 1 day,1w= 1 week
Example Configuration
A good basic configuration for an average chat:
- Duration: 14d
- Limit: 3
- Punishment: Ban
- Punishment Duration: 7d
- Cooldown: 60 seconds
This means: a user gets a 7-day ban after 3 warnings within 14 days.
Linking Service Channels
For full bot functionality, it's useful to create service channels.
Open Customization Settings
- Return to the main settings menu
- Go to the "Customization Settings" section
- Select "Link Channels"
Create and Link Channels
Log Channel - Create a private channel (e.g., "Chat Logs") - Add the bot there as an administrator - Link the channel in settings - All punishment notifications will be sent here
Triggers Channel - Create a private channel (e.g., "Chat Triggers") - Add the bot there as an administrator - Link the channel in settings - Trigger activation notifications will be sent here
Admin Chat - Create a closed group for moderators - Add the bot there - Link the chat in settings - Reports (complaints) from users will be sent here
Tip: These channels are optional but greatly facilitate working with the bot
What's Next?
Now you have basic functionality configured! Here's what you can do next:
- Configure Automoderation — enable spam and flood filters in the Automoderation section
- Create Triggers — set up automatic reactions to specific words in the Triggers section
- Add Moderators — grant rights to your assistants via the
/adminscommand - Study Commands — familiarize yourself with moderation commands
If problems arise, check the Troubleshooting section.
